The tree is created as NURBS Patches. Branches are connected to each other so you can use different modeler tools to modify them (DragNet, Magnet, Bend, Tweest, etc.) and you will still have a correct tree.
This allows you also to easily control the quality of the mesh. You can also use the plugin's optional settings to control the tree complexity and quality.
